2,4-D is a selective systemic herbicide widely used in maize (corn) production to control broadleaf weeds without harming the crop. It is absorbed by the leaves of weeds and translocated throughout the plant, disrupting normal cell growth and causing the weeds to die. 2,4-D helps maize establish strongly by eliminating early weed competition.
